Amithabha Foundation:

A non-profit organization (Kindling the light of hope in the lives of depressed and despaired souls)

Cause and Effect::

Today after about 70 years of independence and freedom, India has many achievements to its credit- conquering the skies- advancement in the field of medicine and agriculture and far better performance in trade, economics, and commerce. But can we say that India could fight poverty, ignorance, and illiteracy existing among our masses successfully? The answer is an emphatic ‘no’ because still, we have millions of poor, needy and underprivileged masses whose children stifled by circumstances are driven to take up small time jobs. A girl child is sent as a domestic help into the houses of the rich and boys rot working in the dark kitchens of tea shops, in the gloomy storerooms of provisions stores and the dusty mechanic workshops. Most of their days pass in these dungeons, exposed to the cruelty of their employers. Slowly these children start nursing a grudge against their masters and the circumstances responsible for their plight and much unkind society at large.

The change in their attitude towards everyone in society drives them towards vices and finally into the world of crime. They become not only a problem but a menace too to the society, creating a big and serious law and order problem to the authorities concerned. All these things could have been nipped in the bud had these children were not denied their primary rights. Unfortunately, we have been ignoring them for long. This is the scourge of the society which we boost as civilized, and the system which lost control over itself long back.

As responsible citizens of India, it becomes our duty to avert these disastrous things to continue to happen.

Inception:

‘Amithabha Foundation' is the result of a few idealistic, philanthropic and enthusiastic individuals who wanted to address the very problem discussed above pronto. In the global context, India can be said to be far behind in addressing the above-discussed problems.

Objectives:

  • 1. Find the solutions for the illiteracy among the children of poverty-stricken masses by providing qualitative, undisturbed education to their children.
    2. Re-admission of school dropouts into schools.
    3. The liberation of children from ‘Child Labor' and rehabilitation.
    4. Scholarship to meritorious students of underprivileged classes.
    5. Protective care for neglected ‘Aged Citizens' of our society.
    6. Establishing hostels with all the provisions for poor but deserved students.
    7. Infusing life into the sick orphanages due to financial crunch

Activities:

  • 1. Presently undisturbed continuation of education of poor students is unpredictable due to economic backwardness of their parents. Amithabha Foundation passed a resolution to identify the deserving students and extend financial assistance by paying their school fees and providing books and uniforms.
    2. There are so may school dropouts at various levels for various reasons in every state of India. Amithabha Foundation decided to rehabilitate these helpless and unfortunate children and see that their education is continued up to 10th standard at least.
    3. "Child Labor" is the scourge of our society. Abject poverty drives the parents to send their young-ones to work in small time business establishments. Amithabha Foundation will set up ‘fieldwork teams' to locate these unfortunate children rotting at workplaces and rehabilitate them promptly paving a bright future for them.
    4. To identify the students with meritorious academic record in schools but have been unable to pursue their further education due to economic crunch. Amithabha Foundation wishes to help them to get into higher education paving a bright path for their future careers.
    5. Today we find many aged citizens of our society neglected by their kith and kin which will shame our family relationships handed over to us for generations. This serious problem cannot be ignored and let alone. These unfortunate poor souls of this very society should be lifted up from their misery and rehabilitated in proper Homes. Amithabha Foundation has set up special teams to pick up these gentlemen and provide them everything needed with loving hands.
    6. Amithabha Foundation feels that there is a dearth of quality hostels for deserving students and have drawn plans to set up hostels providing quality food, accommodation and pure drinking water in hygienic conditions.
    7. Amithabha Foundation is well aware of the scores of Homes for orphans working in and around Hyderabad but unable to meet the expenses and deteriorate to the level of mere ‘shelter homes', lodging children with no discipline and without proper education. Amithabha Foundation wishes to infuse new life into these sick Homes, assisting them with financial and material help and guidance and see these ‘Homes' become healthy again.
